The leaves will soon start changing colors and the sweet smell of pumpkin spice will fill the air.

Whether we like it or not, it’s time to start thinking about fall preparations and most homeowners know there’s never an off season when it comes to house maintenance. Some typical fall housework includes the following:

  • Cleaning out gutters to allow for efficient drainage
  • Inspecting weatherstripping around doors and windows to help ensure your home won’t be drafty
  • Having your furnace inspected and tuned up if necessary to provide safe, clean warmth
  • Winterizing your lawn equipment like mowers, tillers, and trimmers to make sure they run properly come spring
  • Fertilizing your existing lawn with a winterizer blend to feed even during the winter months
  • Planting grass seed in fall to help ensure germination in intermediate temperatures (not too dry, hot, or cold)
